Institutional Representatives
Institutional Representatives (Deans of Science or equivalent) are the senior representatives of our Member Institutions. They determine the strategic direction of the organization and annually elect a Board of Directors to oversee its implementation. The Institutional Representatives meet each Fall to review the progress on our strategic plan, monitor Division activities, and discuss issues of mutual interest.
The Board
The Board consists of a Chair, Chair Elect or Past Chair, Treasurer, three Institutional Representatives, three Division Representatives, and two Members-at-Large. The Board meets virtually six to eight times a year to assess progress on the strategic plan, maintain financial oversight, and review activities.
The Strategic Planning Committee
The Strategic Planning Committee’s assists the Board and Executive Director in setting and maintaining the strategic direction for Science Atlantic and to monitor the organization’s activities in support of the goals of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan.
Divisions and Division Committees
Science Atlantic Divisions are a central point for faculty in ten disciplines to connect with each other. Any faculty member or student at a Member Institution is welcome to take part in the activities of their relevant Division.
Each Division has a Committee, with one representative from each Member Institution. Division Committees report to the Board and are dedicated to student and faculty engagement through the organization of activities including annual conferences and speaker tours. Division committees establish their own goals and activities, subject to approval by the Board.
Division Committee members are appointed by their department or dean. Each Division Committee elects an Executive consisting of a Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. At the discretion of the Committee, individuals from non-member institutions may participate in its activities and deliberations without voting privileges.
