Anniversary Celebrations

To celebrate each institution’s participation in Science Atlantic, we are hosting a tree dedication event on each campus. Ceremonies will take place in the Fall of 2021 and dates will be added here as they are confirmed.

Our first Tree Dedication Ceremony took place on National Tree Day (Sept 22, 2021), during the CIF National Forest Week (Sept 19-25, 2021).

A 60-year old red oak tree has been dedicated to honour 60 years of Science Atlantic.

Location: UNB Campus. Northside of the Thomas Carleton Hall building, 19 MacAulay Dr. Fredericton, NB.

Please send a not to ForEM@unb.ca if  you would like a seedling from the red oak tree.

For more details, visit our ceremony blog post.

Acadia has dedicated a very special apple tree in the main university quad. It is a great-great-great grandchild of the tree that Sir Isaac Newton saw the apple fall from which inspired his theory of gravity.

For more details, please visit our ceremony blog post.

A ginkgo biloba tree along the pathway leading from College Road to the DalAc Rock Garden has been selected for the dedication.

  • Time: 11:00 am
  • Location: TBD

For more details, please visit our ceremony blog post.

Please join us on November 19, 2021, at 2:00 pm outside Mulroney Hall on the pathway between the Library and Nicholson Tower (facing the Power Plant) where the University will dedicate a tree to recognize the University’s past contributions and its continuing commitment to Science Atlantic as Science Atlantic enters the next 60 years.
