On October 1, communities across Canada celebrate National Seniors Day, recognizing the achievements, contributions, and lasting impact of seniors across the country. This year marks the 15th anniversary of National Seniors Day, first celebrated in 2011.
At Science Atlantic, we would like to take this opportunity to recognize the senior and retired faculty members who have contributed their time, knowledge, experience, and dedication to the post-secondary science community in Atlantic Canada and beyond. Throughout their careers, senior members of the STEM community have supported students, advanced research, founded programs and institutions, and contributed to developments that have influenced the world we live in today.
To mark National Seniors Day, we are hosting an online discussion for senior and retired faculty on October 1 from 12 – 1:30pm (ADT) to contribute their experiences, perspectives, and ideas to help develop a new Intergenerational Mentorship Program. Senior and retired faculty members are invited to sign up here to contribute to the discussion.
The Pilot Intergenerational Mentorship Program is set to launch in the new year and will connect senior and retired faculty with students and new faculty. The program will provide opportunities to share knowledge and experience, connect with new perspectives, and continue to contribute to the Atlantic post-secondary STEM community.
