As a body representing 17 post-secondary institutions in Atlantic Canada, Science Atlantic follows the policies of its member institutions.
With conferences planned for March 13-15, 2020, at Cape Breton University and University of Prince Edward Island, we have been monitoring posted updates regarding COVID-19 on our members’ websites. Science Atlantic conference registrants are encouraged to seek guidance from their home institutions regarding attendance.
In addition, we have contacted CBU and UPEI directly for updates. CBU has made the decision to cancel the Aquaculture and Fisheries and Biology Conference (AFB; March 13-15, 2020) and the Science Atlantic Environment Conference (SAEC; March 14-15, 2020). As of 10:30 am today, there has been no indication that restrictions will be placed on classes or other general university gatherings at UPEI.
Pending decisions by any of the governing bodies of our member institutions, the Science Atlantic Registration Cancellation Policy will be waived for the Science Atlantic Aquaculture and Fisheries and Biology Conference (AFB; hosted at CBU, March 13-15, 2020), the Science Atlantic Environment Conference (SAEC; hosted at CBU, March 14-15, 2020), and the Science Atlantic Nutrition and Foods Conference (SANFC; hosted at UPEI, March 13- 15, 2020). Anyone registered to attend one of these conferences may cancel their registration and their fees will be refunded.
It is not necessary to contact conference organizers prior to the conference; requests for refunds will be accepted until March 31, 2020.
