Maria is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Commerce, with a double major in Computing & Info Systems and Management at Saint Mary’s University. She plans to graduate in Spring 2025 after returning to full-time studies in the fall.
In her free time, Maria enjoys hanging out with her friends and walking her dog Buddy.

Sabrina Sgambati
Communications and Member Engagement Assistant
Sabrina Sgambati is returning to the role of Communications and Member Engagement Assistant, a position that she originally held during the Winter 2023 term. She’s excited to build upon the skills she developed in Winter 2023, and send out Science Atlantic’s bi-weekly newsletter, run our social media channels, and help to plan new and engaging Science Atlantic Sessions for All events.
Sabrina graduated from Acadia University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Psychology with Co-operative Education and Applied Options.
She will be attending the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in September. Outside of work, Sabrina enjoys walking, reading, and taking pictures of the sunset.

Guilherme Couto
Communications and Member Engagement Assistant – Web
Guilherme (Will) Couto is returning to Science Atlantic in the role of Communications and Member Engagement Assistant – Web, after previously holding the position of Junior Web Developer from June to December 2023.
Will will be focused on developing a smooth and functional sub-domain for our members, and he’ll assist in the maintenance and upkeep of our website. He’s looking forward to helping to advance the science community in the Atlantic region.
Will plans to graduate from Fanshawe College in December 2024, with a diploma in Computer Programming and Analysis. In his free time, Will enjoys physical activities, gaming, and hanging out with his pets.

Day Mackay
Communications and Member Engagement Assistant
Day Mackay is joining the team as our Administrative Assistant. Day’s responsible for doing a bit of everything. She supports the team and Executive Director by assisting with conference and award winner support, managing shared email inboxes, organizing documents, forms, schedules, and much more.
Day’s position grows every day, and she appreciates the opportunity to expand her knowledge and skills with it. The time she spent studying at Mount Saint Vincent University and Saint Mary’s University has given Day a unique perspective that enables her to work with universities effectively.
When she’s not working, Day loves cuddling her cat Lulu, spending time in nature, drawing, and doing any type of physical activity, especially dancing.
A humongous thank you to our outgoing staff members Alexa Wilcox and Megan Krempa for their excellent work. We’re looking forward to a great summer with our new and returning staff members!
