New! Intergenerational Mentorship Pilot

Science Atlantic is piloting an intergenerational mentorship program to connect senior and retired STEM faculty with early-career faculty and students across the region.

Building on more than 60 years of collaboration, the pilot will create opportunities for senior and retired faculty to support the next generation of students, educators, and researchers.  This project honours the knowledge and experience of senior faculty, while supporting those who are just getting started, making the most of the multi-generational network of Science Atlantic.

Goals

For everyone involved, the project aims to build a stronger sense of belonging, deepen connections across generations, and support the sharing of valuable knowledge and experience.

For senior and retired faculty, we want to offer ways to stay connected in the Atlantic post-secondary STEM community, engage with new ideas and perspectives, and provide opportunities to give back to the community that nurtured them.

For early-career faculty and students, we anticipate that mentors will provide assistance in navigating post-secondary systems and norms, enhance involvement in professional networks across the region, and help build confidence in studies and career development.
