CISE-Atlantic Outreach in Tenure and Promotion
Building on Dalhousie University’s Academic Leadership Certificate report and its Faculty of Science Tenure and Promotion Taskforce, CISE-Atlantic is working towards an expansive call to action to transform the Tenure and Promotion process so that what has previously been undervalued is duly recognized. In this session, the Chairs will speak about the recommendations put forward by Dalhousie’s Taskforce aimed at refining the evaluation criteria for tenure and promotion within the Faculty of Science. These recommendations prioritize equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) considerations and are structured into three key categories: research, teaching, and service. The taskforce aims to establish a robust and inclusive framework for evaluating faculty members’ contributions. To expand this work across institutions, CISE-Atlantic will develop partnerships and relationships to collect best practices for accounting for faculty contributions in service to EDI in Tenure and Promotion processes.
