The following awards are given out annually at the Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science (MSCS) Conference. Please note, only one communication award is given out at the conference, so the winner may be in either the Mathematics & Statistics stream, or the Computer Science stream.

You can view the most recent winners, or see winners from previous years.

To be considered for an award, please visit the conferences and events page for details on how to register for upcoming conferences.

Science Atlantic Undergraduate Research Award

Science Atlantic Science Communication Award

The Science Atlantic Undergraduate Research Award and the Science Atlantic Science Communication Award are offered at each of the annual Science Atlantic-sponsored student conferences.

Atlantic Canadian Programming Contest Awards

A highlight of the annual Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science conference is the “Atlantic Canadian Programming Contest” programming competition. Teams of up to three students have five hours to analyze problems, design solutions and write computer programs to solve as many of the given problems as quickly as possible.

Until 2019, this competition was part of the world-wide Intercollegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and known as the Atlantic Canadian Preliminary Contest Award.  Though it is now separate, the contest is designed to help university teams prepare to compete in the ICPC.

Past programming problem sets are available for practice.

Winning team members each receive a cash prize and letter of commendation.
