Teaching Dossiers for an Academic Job Search
Graduate students, postdocs, and colleagues with term or sessional contracts who are searching for an academic position can benefit from this session on teaching dossiers for an academic job search. Join Dr. Sharon Myers and Dr. Christian Lacroix for some advice on how to set yourself up for success by taking a good look at your teaching dossier and making sure it effectively communicates your teaching story.
Dr. Sharon Myers
Dr. Myers completed her BA at Mount Allison, her MA at St. Mary’s, and her PhD at the University of New Brunswick. At UPEI she teaches modern Canadian history, including courses in women’s, social, and cultural history. Her most recent research projects focus on the New Brunswick Child Welfare Survey, 1927-1933, and considers the dynamics among the family, civil society, and the state. Dr. Myers’s publications about women and children in the Maritimes have appeared in numerous publications over the past three decades.
Dr. Christian Lacroix
Dr. Lacroix completed his BSc and MSc at McGill, and his doctoral work at the University of Guelph. Currently Chair of the Department of Biology, he has been a full-time faculty member at UPEI since 1990. Dr. Lacroix specializes in Developmental Plant Morphology and teaches Plant Science related courses. His research highlights relationships between morphologically different structures that share similar developmental pathways. His current research interests include leaf complexity in seed-bearing plants, developmental aspects of floral organ identity, and the biology of the Gulf of St. Lawrence Aster.
